A Return

Help us relaunch the gallery in 2026

Ten years. 78 shows. Debut solo exhibitions given to artists who are now showing internationally.

Castor is relaunching with a leaner model built for these times — and with a group of founding collectors at its centre.

‘I’ve missed curating and worry for the next generation of artists with the loss of so many young galleries. Whilst the art world was over-saturated, we need to continue to offer young artists a chance and champion the overlooked, in an authentic and ethical way.

I want to bring Castor back, learning from our 10 years and relaunch with a leaner model.

For this I need your help.’

Founder & Director

A well-loved gallery returning with purpose.

(We never stopped, we just took some time out)

Founded in 2016, Castor has spent a decade presenting emerging artists and overlooked estates across London. From our humble beginnings in a New Cross basement in 2016, to our 6 years at the heart of the Deptford gallery scene before moving to Central London.

Artists shown early by Castor include Lindsey Mendick, Rafal Zajko, Nana Wolke and many others who have since gone on to significant international careers.

Having expanded over the years we want to come back lean. After some time out,
re-energising, watching on from afar we know our purpose and want to continue to do what do best at. Giving artists stand out exhibitions at an important stage of their career. Focused, supportive and generous.

Whilst it’s a difficult time for all at the moment, we believe we can make a difference. A gallery run with low overheads, making exhibitions which matter, working closely with artists to present their ideas in the best light

The idea

To relaunch in St Leonards on Sea, Sussex. A bustling creative community full of artists, musicians, actors.

With cheaper rent, good access to space and the ability to relaunch the gallery as the centre of an already exciting area amongst a number of artist run spaces and public galleries. As well as some brilliant restaurants and bars.

Neighbouring institutions:

  • The Hastings Contemporary

  • De La Warr Pavilion

  • BexhillTowner, Eastbourne

We plan to run a high quality programme locally whilst being flexible to do London pop ups and respond to opportunities.

With a focus on high quality work and ambitious presentations.
